Privacy Policy for DogTrack
This Privacy Policy explains how DogTrack handles data. DogTrack is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app does not require user accounts, does not run a developer backend, and does not track users.
Overview
All data created in the app is stored locally on your device and, if enabled by you, synced securely via your personal iCloud account.
Information We Collect
DogTrack does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to the developer or any third party. We do not collect:
- Personal identifiers
- Location history on any server
- Usage analytics
- Device identifiers
- Contact information
- Health data
- Tracking data sent to the developer
Data Stored on Your Device
To provide app functionality, DogTrack stores data locally on your device, including:
- Track recordings (GPS routes)
- Track metadata (distance, time, articles, notes, evaluations)
- Dog profiles (name only)
- App settings
This data is only accessible to you.
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud account using Apple CloudKit. The developer cannot access this data. When Advanced Data Protection is enabled on your Apple ID, this data is end-to-end encrypted.
Location Data
DogTrack uses location services solely to record tracks while you are actively using the app or when background tracking is enabled by you. Location data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to the developer.
Data Sharing
DogTrack includes optional features that allow you to export or share tracks manually. Any sharing is initiated by you and remains under your control. The app does not share data automatically.
Third-Party Services
DogTrack relies on Apple system frameworks for core functionality, such as:
- MapKit
- CoreLocation
- CloudKit (optional)
- WeatherKit (if used)
These services operate under Apple’s privacy policies. DogTrack does not integrate with advertising networks, analytics platforms, or external tracking SDKs.
Data Retention
All data remains on your device or in your private iCloud account until you delete it. You can delete tracks or app data at any time. Deleting the app removes locally stored data from the device.
Children’s Privacy
DogTrack does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Security
Because DogTrack does not operate a backend or collect user data, there is no central database managed by the developer that could be accessed or compromised. Your data security depends primarily on the security of your device and Apple account.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements. Updates are indicated by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
